Urban Study

Hazmieh, Lebanon

We were asked to study the urban planning of the city of Hazmieh, in the suburbs of Beirut, and see what is missing to make it a decent independant city.

I worked with 3 colleagues, and found that it could become the centre of the missing public transportion in Beirut.

Considering it a very vibrant economic hub so close to the capital, we decided to continue with its strong points, and create a vertical miniature of the city, where the main function would be a car park.

Lebanon suffers from a very high ratio of cars to people, so our proposal consisted in parking your car in Hazmieh, because most of the people working in Beirut commune from far distances, and taking a bus connection from our centre.
